This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key aspect of the role involves continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practices, and industry guidelines, while promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
- Implement occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic exposures, including but not limited to:
- Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
- Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
- Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and risk assessment scores
- Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
- Radiation management, including local rules and exposure assessments
- Thermal hazard assessment, potable water management, communicable diseases, mould & spores, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue
Design and recommend control strategies.Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, and RPE testing and inspections.Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use and maintenance.Conduct assurance processes through inspections and audits across operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering all hygiene standards, guidelines, and procedures, including accommodation and welfare areas.Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.Key Requirements Include:
- Occupational Hygienist working towards or possessing a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
- Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
- Combination of BOHS W & P modules
Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.Strong drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and health risks, influencing management and workforce.Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting effectively in various forums and mediums.Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work within specified timeframes.At Perenco, we value our people and offer competitive salaries and benefits, including:
