This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.

The primary focus of this position is to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are key components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.

This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Collaborate with medics/HSEAs and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
  2. Implement occupational hygiene plans addressing chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic risks, including but not limited to:
  • Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
  • Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
  • Asbestos management and surveys
  • Noise and vibration management and assessments
  • Radiation management and assessments
  • Thermal hazard assessments
  • Potable water management
  • Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue

• Recommend and design control strategies.

• Monitor and evaluate control measures (e.g., LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections).

• Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance).

• Conduct inspections and audits across operational sites, including onshore support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, guidelines, and procedures, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.

• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.

Key Requirements Include:

  • Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
  • Either a qualifying BOHS-accredited degree or a combination of BOHS W & P modules.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
  • Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work.
