We combine expert advice and clinical services with smart systems to deliver impact driven health programs tailored to our clients’ needs.

Role Outline

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Occupational Hygiene Technician to join our enthusiastic and supportive multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team-player who ideally has some experience of industrial and/or construction environments, looking for their next challenge or to kickstart a career in the occupational hygiene/health and environmental monitoring field. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary occupational health team, taking a self-motivated and proactive approach to your role, prioritising and managing your own workload.

This role is a full time, permanent position, working 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) on-site at our highly-acclaimed client's site Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater, Somerset.

This role will involve shift work, therefore the successful applicant will need to be comfortable covering a mixture of day shifts (8am - 4pm), back shifts (i.e. 3pm - 11pm), night shifts (10pm to 6am), and occasional days on weekends (approximately 1in 4). There will be enhanced pay for out of standard hours working.

What you'll be doing:

  • Performing Occupational Hygiene monitoring and surveys of personnel and site activities for a range of chemical, physical and biological agents.
  • Participating in specific occupational hygiene related investigations and studies.
  • Carrying out regular workplace inspection to assess occupational hygiene related aspects.
  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of training and information materials on occupational hygiene related topics.
  • Contributing to the occupational hygiene performance reports.

Ideally you will be an affiliate member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (AFOH) and working towards the certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) – however full training can be provided.

A STEM degree is desirable but not essential.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • IT literate
  • IT competency and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
  • Hold a degree qualification in a STEM related subject area and preferably at least three years’ work experience of industrial and / or construction environments
  • Working toward the Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS)

We are offering a competitive salary for this position, depending on qualifications and experience.
