Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust in Tyne and Wear is seeking an Observability Engineer to design and maintain Trust-wide monitoring across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments. You will implement data collection, correlation, retention and visualization to support patient care.

You will work with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, clinical safety and service management teams to ensure system availability, performance and rapid incident response.

Formación

• Degree or equivalent with expertise in alerting tools.
• Operational experience in a large multi-site enterprise.
• Understanding of how end users interact with the technology stack.
• Ability to travel between Trust premises and sites.
• DBS check completed.

Job Title: Observability Engineer

Salary/Rate: 39,959 – 48,117 £ / Year

Develop and maintain Trust-wide monitoring and observability systems across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments.

Implement monitoring solutions for data collection, correlation, retention and visualisation.

Monitor the performance, availability and reliability of digital systems supporting patient care.

Help identify potential system issues early to protect clinical safety and service continuity.

Collaborate with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, clinical safety and service management teams.

Integrate new technical systems and equipment into monitoring and alerting platforms.

Administer and improve monitoring tools to ensure effective system availability and performance tracking.

Support major incident investigations, post-incident reviews and analytical reporting.

Identify monitoring gaps and improve alerts, dashboards, automation and observability coverage.

Requirements

• Degree in a digital-related discipline or equivalent knowledge with additional specialist expertise in industry alerting tools.
• Organize Wikis
• Significant operational experience in a large enterprise organisation operating across multiple sites.
• Practical digital operations experience and understanding of how end users interact with the overall technology stack.
• Ability to travel between Trust premises and work across different Trust sites when required.
• Desirable:
  • Continuous professional development or foundational training in network and systems infrastructure.
  • Experience with Windows Server and UNIX environments.
  • Experience using network monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of coaching and mentoring practices.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement tools, techniques and methods.
• Successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
