Job summary

A leading digital insurance provider in the UK seeks a Monitoring Engineer to support the design and maintenance of scalable monitoring solutions for IT infrastructure and applications. Candidates should have expertise in Site Reliability Engineering and relevant technologies like Dynatrace and Azure Monitor. Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Site Reliability Engineering, monitoring & observability, or related field.
  • Expert knowledge of monitoring technologies, especially Dynatrace, Grafana, and Azure Monitor.
  • Experience with automation tools, such as Azure DevOps Pipelines or Rundeck.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and maintenance of monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Ensure capturing of business SLAs and KPIs, providing actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with operations, security, and architecture teams for monitoring requirements.
  • Support center of excellence with guidance and training on best practices and tools.
  • Collaborate with CIO teams to deliver monitoring in the SDLC within a DevOps culture.
  • Evaluate new capabilities, conduct proofs of concept, pilots and tests with the Senior Monitoring & Observability Engineer.

Job Details
  • Supporting the design of, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable monitoring and observability solutions for the IT infrastructure and applications, using various technologies and platforms.
  • Supporting the design of, building and maintaining scalable and reliable event management capabilities to drive auto‑healing in support of better performance and stability.
  • Ensuring that the monitoring & observability solutions capture business SLAs, KPIs, and provide actionable insights and alerts for performance, availability, security, and compliance issues.
  • Supporting the centre of excellence for monitoring & observability, which provides guidance, support, and training for the IT staff and stakeholders on the best practices, standards, and tools for this domain.
  • Collaborating with other CIO teams, such as operations, security, and architecture, to ensure that the monitoring requirements are being delivered as part of the SDLC (shift left) in support of a DevOps culture.
  • Supporting the ongoing evaluation of new capabilities in the monitoring technology stack, conducting proof of concepts, pilots, and tests to validate their suitability together with the Senior Monitoring & Observability Engineer.
Skills we would love you to have
  • Proven experience in Site Reliability Engineering, monitoring & observability, or a related field.
  • Expert knowledge and skills in various monitoring & observability technologies and platforms, especially Dynatrace, Grafana, Azure Monitor.
  • Experience with automation, such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, Rundeck or similar.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and coaching skills, with the ability to adjust approach according to varying levels of technical ability.
  • Highly motivated, self‑directed, and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
