Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking a Nursing Support Worker to join the Primary Care Nursing Team under the direction of the lead nurse, supporting Registered Nurses, General Practitioners and other health professionals in assessment, treatment and management of patients.

In this role you will carry out delegated clinical duties including phlebotomy, physical measurements, immunisations under supervision, wound care, and health promotion, ensuring a clean, well-stocked

Qualifications

• Experience in primary care settings or NHS environment preferred.
• Ability to carry out delegated clinical tasks under supervision.
• Good communication and patient-focused care.

Responsibilities

• Carry out delegated clinical duties within the care setting.
• Undertake Phlebotomy clinics and dry blood spot testing.
• Perform physiological measurements such as blood pressure, pulse, waist circumference and weight.
• Provide health promotion advice to patients and carers (e.g., smoking cessation, weight management, alcohol guidance).
• Undertake Spirometry testing and record results.
• Undertake ECG monitoring.
• Participate in administration of immunisations under supervision.
• Perform basic wound management under supervision.
• Prepare the clinical environment for the patient and ensure treatment area is clean, stocked, and tidy.

Job description

The post holder will work as a member of the Primary Care Nursing Team under the direction of the lead nurse.

The Nursing Support Worker will support Registered Nurses, General Practitioners and other health care professionals in the assessment, treatment and management of patients presenting in primary care settings.

The Nursing Support Worker will work as part of the nursing team within standard operating procedures, and Registered Nurses and General Practitioners are available for reference.

The post holder will assist with specified delegated clinical tasks that include the provision and monitoring of Chronic Disease management providing a caring, patient focused service at all times.

• Carry out delegated clinical duties within HMP & YOI Parc.
• Undertake Phlebotomy clinics and dry blood spot testing.
• To perform physiological measurements such as blood pressure monitoring, pulse monitoring, waist circumference measurement, weight monitoring.
• Providing any necessary Health Promotion advice to patients and carers e.g. Smoking Cessation, Weight Management Support, Alcohol Consumption.
• Undertake Spirometry testing, and record result in patient information.
• Undertake ECG monitoring.
• To participate in the administration of immunisations under a Patient Specific Directive following a period of training i.e. B12, influenza and pneumococcal injections.
• To perform basic wound management under the supervision of a Registered Nurse following appropriate training and assessment.
• To prepare the clinical environment for the patient ensuring the treatment area is clean, stocked and tidy

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
