Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board in Aberystwyth is seeking a Nursing Support Worker to join the Cardiac Monitoring Unit. The 12-bed unit provides care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, with opportunities to accompany the nurse to theatres for cardiac procedures.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team under supervision, delivering personal and clinical care, monitoring observations, assisting with feeding and diabetic checks, and contributing to safety and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health care professional.
• Undertakes personal care activities and clinical care duties such as caring for cardiac monitored patients, observations, feeding, diabetic monitoring and baywatch of patients, with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
• Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client’s condition and progress
• Ensures the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes
• Contributes to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff.
• Delivers role in accordance with Health Board/Trust Values and Code of Conduct for HCSW’s in Wales.

Main duties of the job

This post involves supporting the trained staff on the ward to deliver Specialist care. This includes cardiac specialities and patients that require cardiac monitoring.

• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health care professional.
• Undertakes personal care activities and clinical care duties such as caring for cardiac monitored patients, observations, feeding, diabetic monitoring and baywatch of patients, with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
• Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client’s condition and progress

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
