Job overview
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Healthcare Assistant in the Theatre Department. You will need to enjoy working as a team player and have a flexible attitude to meet service demands. Applicants with experience are desirable however, training to achieve the standards required will be given.
Theatres have an extensive development package and opportunities within their “Grow your own” workforce. There is also an opportunity to enter the Trainee Nursing Associate or Operating Department Practitioner apprenticeship programme also.
It is essential that you possess GCSE Grade A-C (9-4) or equivalent in Maths and English to apply for this post.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to join the Theatre Department at The Princess Royal Hospital, at a time when we are developing a workforce to aid the recovery and restoration programme, whilst we continue to provide safe, quality services that are accessible and sustainable for future generations.
Working as part of a team you will provide exceptional care for each patient, only ever caring for one patient at a time, enabling you to ensure you are always doing your very best for every patient every time.
Our Theatre HCA's play an essential role in the smooth running of our Theatres and help us maintain our exceptional levels of care. Theatre HCA's assist the wider theatre team with the safe passage of patients through the surgical pathway.
As a department we routinely offer dedicated support whilst you settle into your new role. Your role would predominately be in the Theatre Department. You will remain supernumerary for 3 months whilst you complete your specific HCA Theatre and on call competencies, we are also committed to internal professional development. We have a dedicated team within the unit who oversee all training we provide.
Working for your organisation
The department currently provides a 24 hour emergency surgical service, including the Maternity Theatres, therefore flexibility and a commitment to a night shift/ on-call/shift system is essential.
This post will be predominately based in the Theatre Department and the new Elective Surgical Hub at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, however there may be a requirement to work occasionally in the Theatre Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
