Job description

Nursery Teaching Assistant - Watford

£95-£110 per day | Paid Weekly | Dependent on Experience & Qualifications

Are you an Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Nurse or Nursery Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in your career and gain experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs?

Academics are recruiting for a Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Carpenders Park, Watford, supporting children from Reception through to Year 8.

The school supports pupils with a broad range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex learning needs.

Your experience working in EYFS and early childhood settings will be highly transferable. Skills such as developing communication, encouraging independence, supporting social development, managing routines and creating engaging activities are all incredibly valuable when working with children with SEN.

As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide nurturing, individualised support and help pupils engage with learning and develop their confidence.

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Using your EYFS experience to support communication, social and emotional development
  • Helping children develop independence and confidence
  • Supporting learning through play-based and engaging activities
  • Providing a nurturing, patient and consistent approach
  • Supporting children with a range of SEN needs

This role would be particularly well suited to candidates with experience as a Nursery Nurse, Early Years Practitioner, EYFS Teaching Assistant, Childcare Practitioner or Nursery Teaching Assistant who are interested in developing a career within specialist education.

You don't need extensive SEN experience. The school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing, enthusiastic and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Your understanding of child development, communication, behaviour, routines and individual needs will provide an excellent foundation for working within a specialist school.

Whether you're an experienced EYFS practitioner looking for a new challenge, a Nursery Nurse wanting to move into SEN, or a childcare professional interested in developing your career within education, this could be an excellent opportunity.

If you're looking for a Nursery Teaching Assistant role in Watford where your Early Years experience can make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you
