Job summary

Academics is helping a well led Primary School in Havering recruit an Early Years Teaching Assistant/Nursery Nurse for September or October 2026. The role is full-time, term-time only, 8:30am to 3:45pm, across Nursery and Reception.

You will support phonics, reading and writing activities, assist with classroom duties, and provide 1:1 or small group booster sessions. Level 2/3 CACHE or Level 6/degree in childcare, EYFS knowledge, and good teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 or 3 CACHE Qualification in Childcare/Supporting Teaching & Learning.
• Or hold a Level 6 or degree within childcare or education.
• Have an understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
• School-based experience ideally or experience within private nurseries.
• Enthusiasm about working in EYFS and with children.
• Work well as a team; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Mon-Fri term time only, 8:30am-3:45pm.
• Work across Nursery and Reception in a school setting.
• Carry out phonics, spelling, reading & writing activities.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom environment.
• Assist with general classroom duties.
• Support mild SEN when needed.
• Provide 1:1 and group booster sessions.
