Job summary

St Thomas More Roman Catholic Primary School is seeking a caring Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team. You will work with children aged 3–4 in our nursery, supporting the class teacher and Early Years team to provide high-quality learning experiences.

We value play-based learning, strong relationships with families, and safeguarding. The role is 6.5 hours per day, five days a week (flexible to four days).

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Experience of working with children aged 3-5 years in an educational or childcare setting.

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our youngest learners, supporting children aged 3 and 4 years in our nursery provision and helping them to make a positive start to their educational journey at St Thomas More School.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and Early Years team to provide high-quality learning experiences, promote children's wellbeing and development, and help create a nurturing environment in which every child can flourish.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for working with young children.
• Understands the importance of play-based learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Can support children's learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality interactions.
• Is patient, caring and able to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Has good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Will actively support the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Experience of working with children aged 3-5 years in an educational or childcare setting.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Level 3 Early Years Educator, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
• Experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Knowledge of child development and early learning.
• Experience of supporting children with additional needs.
