Job summary

The University of Birmingham invites applications for a Nursery SEND and Inclusion Lead to ensure inclusive practice across our Edgbaston nurseries. You will work with management to embed equity, access and participation for all children, prioritise safeguarding, and liaise with parents and external professionals to secure high‑quality care and education.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Early Childhood Education or related field to Level 3.
• A SEND qualification is desirable.
• Experience supporting children with a range of needs.

Responsibilities

• Support Nursery Leadership in developing and implementing SEND and Inclusion strategies.
• Coordinate SEND provision across all sites and ensure staff understand policies.
• Identify additional support funding needs (ISEY, SSPP, EHCP, EYPP) and use funds effectively.
• Contribute to a setting-wide Graduated Approach to inclusion and progress.
• Maintain up-to-date records evidencing child and family journeys.
• Inform practitioners with child-led insights to improve outcomes.
• Prepare applications and reports for external agencies and access support.
• Support planning of enhanced transitions with external professionals.
• Guide staff in inclusive practice and SEND responsibilities.
• Deliver training on inclusive environments, behaviour, and curriculum access.
• Foster strong relationships with parents and carers.
