Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in York is partnering with a private day nursery to recruit a Nursery Room Leader on a full-time, permanent basis.

You will lead the pre-school room, plan and deliver EYFS activities, support children’s development, and nurture a Forest School environment with outdoor classrooms on-site in YO30.

Immediate start available; salary £13.50–£15 per hour, childcare discount, and an additional day off for your birthday.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.
• Experience working in a nursery or Early Years setting, ideally in a pre‑school room.
• Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
• Ability to lead a room and support other staff.
• Passion for outdoor learning and Forest School activities.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic private day nursery based in York, who are looking to appoint a Nursery Room Leader. This welcoming nursery has a strong focus on outdoor learning, offering a Forest School environment with outdoor classrooms where children are encouraged to explore, develop their independence and learn through hands‑on experiences.

The nursery is looking to take on a dedicated Nursery Room Leader on a full-time, permanent basis, with an immediate start available. The successful Nursery Room Leader will be responsible for leading the pre‑school room, planning and delivering engaging activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), supporting children's development and ensuring a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment.

The successful Nursery Room Leader will have:

• A minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Early Years
• Experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting, ideally within a pre‑school room
• A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
• The confidence to lead a room and support other members of staff
• A passion for outdoor learning and Forest School activities
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills, with a positive 'can-do' attitude
