Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is recruiting a Nursery Room Leader in York to oversee the pre-school room in a Forest School–inspired setting.

The role involves planning and delivering EYFS-aligned activities, guiding staff, and fostering a nurturing, outdoor-focused learning environment. The successful candidate will hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Early Years, bring nursery experience, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.
• Experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
• A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
• The confidence to lead a room and support other members of staff.
• A passion for outdoor learning and Forest School activities.
• Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills, with a positive 'can-do' attitude.

Salary: £13.50 - £15.00 per hour

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic private day nursery based in York, who are looking to appoint a Nursery Room Leader. This welcoming nursery has a strong focus on outdoor learning, offering a Forest School environment with outdoor classrooms where children are encouraged to explore, develop their independence and learn through hands-on experiences.

The nursery is looking to take on a dedicated Nursery Room Leader on a full-time, permanent basis, with an immediate start available. The successful Nursery Room Leader will be responsible for leading the pre-school room, planning and delivering engaging activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), supporting children's development and ensuring a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment.

The successful Nursery Room Leader will have:

• A minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Early Years
• Experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting, ideally within a pre-school room
• A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
• The confidence to lead a room and support other members of staff
• A passion for outdoor learning and Forest School activities
