Job summary

Spencers Wood Day Nursery and Preschool in Reading is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner. You will join our supportive team to care for, support and inspire children, encouraging curiosity and helping them thrive daily.

Qualifications

  • Caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner required.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is desirable.
  • Experience with caring for and supporting young children is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery.
  • Support and supervise playroom staff with day-to-day duties.
  • Deploy staff to ensure standards are met in the rooms.
  • Ensure nursery keycarer procedures are followed and children are allocated to keycarers.
  • Ensure EYFS requirements are met in practice and provision.
  • Provide professional feedback to parents about their child.
  • Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
  • Develop positive working relationships with staff and parents.

About Our Nursery

Our nursery stretches across four bright and spacious floors, offering a caring and warm environment for all children. In our baby room, little ones enjoy a nurturing space, while the older rooms are designed to support curiosity and help children develop independence.

Our nursery garden is a spacious outdoor play area designed for fun and exploration. It features a mud kitchen, a large sandpit, a big zone for bikes and scooters, a construction area with building resources and an undercover space where our babies can play safely, rain or shine.

We run weekly sports sessions designed to develop fundamental movement skills through fun, active games that inspire exploration, creativity and growth.

A well-established and experienced team, committed to nurturing each child’s development, with strong, collaborative partnerships with parents.

What will you be doing

  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery
  • Support and supervise playroom staff with their day-to-day duties
  • Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and maintained within the rooms
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the nursery keycarer procedures and allocate children to keycarers appropriately
  • Ensure that practiceand provision in the nurserymeets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Provide professional, relevant feedback to parents/carers about their child
  • Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers
  • Develop open and positive working relationships with staff
  • Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly, professional relationships with parents and carers
