Early Years Practitioner
Reports to: Nursery Manager
Responsible to: Duty Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our nursery team. In this role, you will provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, develop, and thrive. You will play an important part in supporting each child's individual learning journey while working closely with colleagues and building positive relationships with families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for all children.
- Support and follow consistent daily routines, both indoors and outdoors, that meet each child's developmental needs.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote learning through play.
- Observe, assess, and monitor children's progress, using observations to plan their next steps in learning.
- Maintain accurate records of each child's development and regularly update learning journeys on Famly.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on their child's progress and daily experiences.
- Create an inclusive, welcoming environment that celebrates diversity, promotes equality, and meets the individual needs of every child.
- Support children's independence during mealtimes and encourage positive hygiene habits, including good oral health practices.
- Provide a warm, secure, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and safe.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and presentation throughout the nursery.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, identifying and reporting any potential risks to the Duty Manager.
- Work collaboratively as part of the nursery team, supporting colleagues and assisting across different rooms when required.
- Attend staff meetings, training courses, and parents\' progress meetings as required.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and keep up to date with current early years practices.
- Follow all nursery policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Positively manage children\'s behaviour in line with the nursery's behaviour policy.
- Record and report accidents in accordance with nursery procedures.
- Act as a positive role model, supporting trainees and students within the setting.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the smooth running of the nursery.
