Job summary

The Childcare Academy is seeking an Early Years Practitioner to deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years in line with EYFS and Ofsted requirements.

You will maintain a safe environment, build partnerships with parents, and work with the Nursery Lead to support progress and safeguarding. The role involves teamwork, proactive planning and contributing to the nursery's improvement plan.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.
  • Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Excellent knowledge of EYFS and Ofsted guidance; experience with 0–5.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment indoors and outdoors.
  • Deliver EYFS curriculum to enable individual progress.
  • Help ensure Ofsted requirements are met at all times.
  • Undertake designated officer roles as directed.
  • Work with professionals locally for children's benefit.
  • Follow nursery policies, safeguarding and incident response procedures.
  • Plan activities aligned to early learning outcomes.
  • Be a key person for a group of children.
  • Maintain records to inform progress against goals.
  • Liaise with parents to share progress and involve them.

Job description

To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years, in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements.

To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.

To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.

To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Lead.

Main activities:
  • To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
  • To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
  • To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
  • To undertake designated officer roles as directed.
  • To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
  • To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
  • To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
  • To be a key person.
  • To ensure records are maintained, as directed by Nursery Lead, sufficient to inform progress against the Early Learning Goals e.g. Observations, assessments, daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments.
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
  • To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery aims and objectives

Education & Qualifications
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.
Paediatric First Aid Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience/ Knowledge
Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities
Knowledge and proven experience of working with children 0-5 years. Recent experience working in a Nursery setting

Skills
Empathy and understanding of children under five.
Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents.
Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records.
