Job summary

Caterpillars Preschool in Coldean, Brighton, is seeking a qualified Early Years Practitioner to join our small, caring team. We care for up to 20 children aged 18 months to 3 years, following the EYFS and OFSTED standards.

This role is term-time only with flexible hours and a pay rate of £12.71 per hour, rising in April. We require Level 2/3 in Childcare, prior childcare experience, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.

Qualifications

Job description

We are a small, friendly setting based on a primary school site in Coldean. We care for a maximum of 20 children aged 18 months to 3 years in a lovely bright classroom with its own outside area. We have regular access to other areas of the school such as the hall and playground. The Preschool has close links with the school, and our children move on to the school’s nursery class the term after they turn 3. We continue to offer wraparound care for the nursery class before and after school. We are a diverse setting with children from all over the world, from a wide range of backgrounds.

We are currently recruiting a qualified Early Years Practitioner to join our small team.

Requirements;

• Level 2 or 3 in Childcare
• Term time only
• Flexible working hours (i.e 3 days a week)
• Flexible working hours can include 8.45 - 3.15pm 4/5 days OR 8.00am - 5.00pm (3-4 days)
• Hours can be negotiated for the right person
• MUST have a genuine passion about supporting children
• Previous childcare experience required
• £12.71 per hour (increasing in April)

We are looking for a warm, caring person with excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and OFSTED requirements and a full and relevant qualification at Level 2 or 3. Experience of working in an early years setting, ability to observe, assess and plan for a group of ‘key children’ and excellent communication skills are also essential. Applicants will be required to work well as part of a team, understand the importance of safeguarding children and be able to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds. An excellent level of spoken and written English and great organisation skills are also essential. The successful candidate will form excellent relationships with children and families and support colleagues in the general running of the setting.
