Job summary

Sandwell Council’s Workplace Nursery is seeking a caring Nursery Officer to join a friendly team on a fixed-term maternity cover until August 2027. This role supports early years learning and development for young children aged 0-5, providing a safe, warm environment and strong family partnerships.

You will implement EYFS-based activities, monitor progress, act as a Key Worker, and work closely with colleagues to uphold high standards of care, learning and safeguarding while fostering children's

Qualifications

• A recognised Level 3 Childcare Qualification.
• Experience of working within an Early Years setting.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel safe and supported.
• Plan and deliver fun, stimulating activities that encourage learning through play across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Observe, monitor and celebrate children's progress and achievements.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with children, parents and carers, acting as a Key Worker to give individual children the support they need
• Work closely with colleagues and partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes for children.
• Contribute to maintaining the high standards of care, learning and safeguarding within the nursery.
• Support children to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a lifelong love of learning.
