Qualifications

Little Crackers is an outstanding nursery situated within Crackley Hall School (4-11) in Kenilworth and is part of the wider Princethorpe Foundation. Currently structured for two-year olds, three-year olds and pre-school, we believe that it is never too early to start on an exciting journey into learning and are planning to extend our provision to include babies from 9-months-old from Autumn 2025. The new Nursery Manager will play a key role in this transition.

Overview of the role

We are looking for a creative, caring and passionate Nursery Manager to join our dynamic team. You will have a robust knowledge of the EYFS curriculum, coupled with great communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. You must be highly motivated and have a positive attitude towards working with children and be aligned with our ethos.

The successful candidate with thrive in the autonomy they will have to run Little Crackers whilst benefiting from the support of the Head of Crackley Hall and the Foundation’s Marketing, Admissions and Finance teams. We are looking for someone with drive and determination to help develop and shape the future of the nursery.

This is a year-round permanent position, working 40 hours per week. The salary will be £34,379 to £37,031, commensurate with experience, although we may be willing to negotiate for exceptional candidates. Other benefits include 30 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays, a superb Employee Assistance Programme and staff discount for their children educated in the Foundation’s schools.

Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for and oversee the day-to-day operation management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the nursery
  • Ensure that staff follow the requirements of the school development plan, plus the requirements in meeting ISI and Ofsted, to strive towards achieving Outstanding/ Excellent Grade at inspection.
  • To complete and communicate the annual strategic/ development plan, out-lining the aims and priorities for the nursery, reviewing within 6 months to monitor progress of goals and objectives and make necessary adjustments
  • To meet the occupancy and revenue targets and manage the operating costs to ensure maximum profitability of the nursery. To be accountable and responsible for monitoring and controlling costs in line with annual budget
  • To take a leading role in admissions in line with our pupil admissions policy, liaising with and supporting the Registrar and Head of Crackley Hall
  • To be responsible for supervising and supporting all members of the nursery team in their day-to-day duties, including 6-8 weekly supervisions, annual appraisals and inductions

Experience/knowledge

  • Excellent working knowledge of current legislation surrounding child protection and monitoring requirements under the EYFS.
  • Approved Level 3 (or above) qualification with at least two years’ experience of working in an early year setting preferably in the role of Deputy/Manager, with experience of managing staff performance and day to day running of a nursery
  • Possess recent training in First Aid, SEND and other subjects as appropriate or be willing to train.
  • Experience of implementing policies and procedures in accordance with current legislation and be willing to learn new skills and implement new initiatives.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of child development and an understanding of the range of factors affecting development, and proven experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.
