Job summary

Childbase Partnership is hiring a Kitchen Assistant at Windmill Hill Day Nursery, Swindon. The role covers 37.5 hours weekly, 52 weeks a year, with shifts 07:30–18:30, and a permanent contract. Salary is £25,096.50 per annum (pro-rata) or £12.87 per hour.

You will prepare wholesome meals for up to 94 children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and work under the Nursery Cook to ensure 5-star hygiene standards and healthy eating.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of COSHH, allergens and manual handling relevant to kitchen work.
• Experience in professional kitchen environments preferred.
• Commitment to safe food handling and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for up to 94 children from a set-menu using fresh ingredients.
• Assist with food preparation and cooking tasks, especially in the absence of the cook.
• Promote healthy eating and maintain high hygiene standards in the kitchen.
• Support safeguarding and ensure dietary needs of children are met.
