Job summary

Little Dukes, a leading child day care services provider, is looking for a Finance Assistant to support its financial operations. The role entails collaboration with Bursars, Financial Controller, and Finance Director, requiring attention to detail and good numeracy skills. This is a full-time position, flexible in nature, fostering communication among various stakeholders while ensuring accurate financial records.

Qualifications

  • Required: 5 GCSEs including Maths and English.
  • Desirable: AAT or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with finance systems (Xero, Sage) needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support Bursars and Financial Controller with finance functions.
  • Perform control account reconciliations including bank reconciliations.
  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers.

The Finance Assistant will provide support to the Bursars, Financial Controller and Finance Director for the finance functions across Little Dukes, Nurseries.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above or equivalent including Maths and English.
  • Knowledge of basic financial procedures, policies and accounting code structures.
  • Ability to identify errors and make corrections to financial records.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word etc.)

Desirable

  • AAT degree or Equivalent.
  • Familiarity with making payments / submitting receipts via the BACS system.

Experience

  • Experience of performing control account reconciliations including bank reconciliations .
  • Experience of utilising a computerised financial system (Xero, Sage or similar packages).
  • Experience of tracing transactions from a management information system to an accounting system and vice versa.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Administrative and basic IT skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Ability to work on own initiative without detailed direction. Proactive attitude to resolve issues.

General Responsibilities

  • Assisting Financial Controller wherever required.
  • Developing good working relationships with stakeholders - Nursery Principals & Heads, Parents, Registrars, Suppliers and other members of LD finance function.
