Job summary

The Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Nurse Consultant for the ADHD service in Sheffield, leading the nursing team and non-medical prescribers while ensuring expert clinical care across ADHD pathways.

The role combines autonomous clinical practice with professional leadership, requires an independent Non‑Medical Prescriber, and an advanced practice MSc or equivalent, with scope to influence strategy and service development.

Qualifications

• Advanced practice MSc or equivalent portfolio completion.
• Clinical supervision training and experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to neurodevelopmental disorders or ADHD.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership to the ADHD team, including setting, implementing and evaluating nursing practice standards
• Assess, diagnose and treat adults with ADHD, working autonomously and using complex reasoning to advise on treatment options and health promotion
• Provide direct patient care through appointments from diagnosis through to treatment
• Initiate, optimise and monitor ADHD medication in line with national guidelines, including interpreting blood and ECG results
• Supervise non-medical prescribers and other multidisciplinary team members delivering expert care
• Give expert clinical advice to medical and nursing staff on ADHD management and act as a resource for patients, families and partner agencies
• Make critical clinical judgements that inform decisions, recommendations and prescriptions
• Communicate highly sensitive and contentious information to patients and carers so they can make informed decisions
• Provide senior oversight of clinical quality, safety and risk management across ADHD pathways
• Lead development of initiatives, strategies and patient pathways in line with national drivers and local needs
• Build internal and external partnerships across agencies to shape service development, working with the clinical lead, operational manager and consultant
• Maintain clinical records in line with Trust policy and NMC standards
