Job summary

Peel House Medical Practice in Accrington is seeking a Nurse Associate to join its general practice team. The role focuses on clinical work within a practice of around 18,500 patients, including observations, sampling, wound care, vaccinations, and long-term condition support.

Home visits for housebound patients are included. The post requires NMC registration as a nursing associate and prior experience in primary care.

Qualifications

• Two-year Foundation Degree from an NMC-approved provider, meeting the standards of proficiency

Responsibilities

• Record clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight, BMI and urinalysis
• Perform venepuncture, capillary blood sampling and other diagnostic procedures
• Carry out ECGs
• Deliver wound care, including dressings, suture removal and basic wound assessment
• Administer injections as delegated and within scope of practice
• Support chronic disease reviews and monitoring for conditions such as asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension, under supervision
• Support patients with long-term conditions, including complex needs such as dementia and mental health conditions
• Undertake NHS Health Checks
• Carry out cervical cytology
• Administer vaccinations and immunisations under PGDs or PSDs, including childhood immunisations
• Undertake home visits for housebound patients for annual reviews, vaccinations and monitoring as delegated
• Recognise and respond to deteriorating patients and safeguarding concerns
