Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Waste Engineer to support the Programme Resilience workstream at Sellafield, delivering effective waste management strategies in a high-hazard nuclear environment.

You will work with the Workstream Lead and Project Manager to develop, review and implement waste strategies, ensuring alignment with Sellafield governance, environmental standards and regulatory requirements. This role offers impactful work with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience on nuclear waste management projects, especially within Sellafield environments.
  • Strong plant-based understanding of operational interfaces in nuclear facilities.
  • Deep knowledge of Sellafield waste arrangements, processes and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist waste management support from concept to commissioning and close-out.
  • Develop and implement waste strategies aligned with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise on minimisation, segregation, characterisation, treatment and disposal options.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, safety and project teams to integrate waste considerations.
  • Develop innovative, compliant waste solutions to support resilience and delivery.
  • Provide technically robust advice to support project decisions and optimised outcomes.
  • Ensure waste activities comply with site arrangements and environmental obligations.
  • Produce and review waste documentation and governance submissions.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise waste routes and reduce volumes.
  • Support transition of projects into operations with ongoing guidance as required.
