Job summary

ALTEN UK is recruiting a Structural Design Engineer for the Nuclear sector to contribute to detailed design and safety-critical assessments within a multidisciplinary team.

You will work on concrete and steel structures, use Eurocodes and British Standards, and collaborate across civil, structural, and geotechnical groups on regulated projects. The role offers flexible working (role-dependent) and opportunities within defence and infrastructure programmes.

Qualifications

• Experience in structural, civil or mechanical analysis engineering.
• UK structural design experience.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards.
• Familiarity with safety-critical or nuclear projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in detailed structural design of buildings within a multidisciplinary team.
• Prepare calculation notes and substantiation documents.
• Analyze drawings and specifications.
• Carry out reinforced concrete checks per standards.
• Support safety assessments for complex infrastructure.
• Collaborate with civil, structural and geotechnical teams.
