Job summary

The Office for Nuclear Regulation is looking for an inspector who can contribute to nuclear safety across the UK by inspecting facilities, assessing licensing submissions and leading regulatory interventions. You will work to strengthen safety culture with licensees and dutyholders, applying LMFS principles and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a related discipline; Chartered membership or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience applying LMFS principles and understanding of licence requirements and standards.
• Ability to influence across senior to frontline levels and understand organisational behaviour.
• Knowledge of nuclear facilities or high-hazard processing environments.
• Strong communication, decision-making and risk-based prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake site inspections across the nuclear lifecycle.
• Assess safety submissions and licensing applications with rigour.
• Lead interventions and investigations as needed.
• Support research and contribute to development of junior inspectors.
• Engage licensees and stakeholders to strengthen safety culture.
