Job summary

EDF Energy Limited is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer for Sizewell C to establish the pre-operational safety arrangements ensuring safe, compliant operation. The role links the safety case to the future operator and coordinates with diverse stakeholders across Sizewell C and Hinkley Point C.

You will help deliver four key workstreams including reactor physics, safety case, regulatory compliance and operations support, with flexibility for travel between sites in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in engineering, science or related discipline.
• Understanding of nuclear reactor physics, the Nuclear Site Licence and wider nuclear regulatory requirements.
• Strong technical understanding of nuclear power plant operations, ideally related to PWR technology.
• Understanding of the role of a Nuclear Safety Group within an operational nuclear power station.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver activities within the pre-operational nuclear safety strategy, specialising in one or more key workstreams while maintaining a broad understanding across the wider function.
• Provide nuclear safety expertise to support the development of the future Sizewell C operating organisation and demonstrate compliance with the Nuclear Site Licence and relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to the development, understanding and application of the nuclear safety case, applying nuclear safety, reactor physics and criticality knowledge to support safe and reliable plant operation.
• Support the development of operational, engineering, maintenance and emergency arrangements.
• Represent the interests of the future operator across the wider pre-operations function, working collaboratively with various internal stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with Hinkley Point C counterparts, sharing learning and ensuring relevant experience is embedded within the Sizewell C Pre-Operations Function.
