Job summary

Laing O'Rourke in the United Kingdom is seeking a civil/structural engineer to join our Technology & Innovation team, focusing on advanced manufacturing for nuclear construction. Qualifications

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Several years' experience within HPC, SZC, or similar nuclear design organisations with a strong understanding of nuclear design processes and approvals.
Desire for innovation and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

Develop innovative permanent works design solutions to support Advanced Manufacturing, particularly preassembled reinforcement cages.
Lead technology and innovation initiatives that align design requirements with Advanced Manufacturing strategies.
Collaborate with Design Automation and Configuration teams to improve design efficiency, consistency, and repeatability.
Identify and develop new product opportunities for the nuclear sector, including advanced precast solutions, while ensuring compliance and manufacturability.
Provide early-stage design input to embed Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) into future nuclear projects.
Deliver structural engineering support across Technology & Innovation activities.
Provide design and detailing input to optimise permanent works for SZC ARMF and implement temporary works optimisation strategies.
