Job summary

EDF Energy Limited is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement for the Hinkley Point C construction project. You will secure materials, equipment and services, negotiate terms, and oversee supplier performance to meet tight schedules and quality standards.

The role requires experience in regulated environments, strong negotiation and stakeholder skills, and the ability to work on site at a nuclear project. A proactive approach to risk and cost control is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Buyer or similar procurement role in heavy industry or regulated environments.
• Understanding of MEP components, materials, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
• Experience in safety-critical or regulated environments (nuclear/oil & gas/utilities) is preferred.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
• Proficient in procurement systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• CCNSG / HSE Operative Test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials, tools, plant, equipment and services to meet project schedules.
• Manage project procurement, including attendance at meetings and record-keeping.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, delivery schedules and status reports.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality, delivery and cost.
• Support QA audits and cost-saving initiatives.
