Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Layout Integration Engineer to develop and deliver integrated plant layouts across Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes, including SMRs, AMRs and Fusion projects. You will own layout development, drive 3D CAD/BIM deliverables, and lead multidisciplinary reviews to resolve clashes and interfaces.

Reporting to the Layout Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural, Architecture, HVAC, Fire, Human Factors and Systems

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Experience in plant layout, piping design, or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Experience in nuclear, power, defence, submarine, oil & gas, or other complex engineering environments.
• Experience using CAD/BIM tools (E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, NX, Revit, Inventor) or similar.
• Experience using Navisworks or similar model review software.
• Ability to interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
• Understanding of systems engineering, requirements management and interface management.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• SC Clearance or capable of achieving it.

Responsibilities

• Own layout development for assigned systems, buildings or plant areas.
• Develop integrated equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts.
• Interpret and apply PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, line lists, requirements and engineering constraints.
• Capture and manage design assumptions, constraints and interfaces.
• Develop layouts within 3D CAD/BIM environments.
• Lead piping routing studies and plant integration activities within assigned scope areas.
• Act as the primary layout focal point for assigned work packages.
• Lead multidisciplinary workshops, model reviews and layout reviews.
• Identify clashes, interfaces and design conflicts and drive their resolution.
• Ensure layout solutions satisfy system, operational, safety, construction and maintenance requirements.
• Produce general arrangements, layout studies and engineering deliverables.
• Author technical reports, optioneering studies, design philosophies and engineering recommendations.
• Present technical solutions and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Support modularisation, construction and maintainability assessments.
• Support requirements management and interface management activities.
