Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Layout Integration Engineer to develop and deliver integrated plant layouts across Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes, including SMRs, AMRs and Fusion projects. You will own layout development for assigned systems, working with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural and other disciplines to ensure safe, constructible and maintainable plant arrangements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Experience in plant layout, piping design, plant design or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Experience within nuclear, power generation, defence, submarine, oil & gas, process plant or other complex environments.
• Experience using CAD/BIM tools such as E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, Siemens NX, Revit, Inventor or similar.
• Proficient with Navisworks or equivalent model review software.
• Ability to interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
• Understanding of systems engineering, requirements and interface management.
• Strong communication and report writing skills.
• SC Clearance or capable of achieving it.

Responsibilities

• Own layout development for assigned systems, buildings or plant areas.
• Develop integrated equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts.
• Interpret and apply PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets and requirements.
• Capture and manage design assumptions, constraints and interfaces.
• Develop layouts within 3D CAD/BIM environments.
• Lead piping routing studies and plant integration activities.
• Act as the primary layout focal point for assigned work packages.
• Lead multidisciplinary workshops and layout reviews.
• Identify clashes and drive their resolution.
• Ensure layouts satisfy safety, operability, constructability and maintainability.
• Produce general arrangements and engineering deliverables.
• Author technical reports and design philosophies where appropriate.
• Present solutions to stakeholders and support modularisation efforts.
