Job summary

Nuclearinst is seeking a Maintenance Operative for our Winfrith site to support commissioning, maintenance and reliability of critical assets in nuclear waste treatment facilities.

Working with Project Engineers and Operations teams, you will perform planned and reactive maintenance across site systems and equipment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. This role offers a 9-day fortnight and opportunities for career growth within the nuclear sector.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 qualification.
• Maintenance experience within industrial or process environments.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Experience using CMMS systems (MaintMaster, SAP, Maximo or similar).
• Understanding of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
• Good working knowledge of plant and material-handling equipment.
• Full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) using CMMS systems such as MaintMaster.
• Respond to breakdowns, fault-find, diagnose issues, and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Conduct repairs, replacements, and adjustments on plant and material-handling equipment.
• Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment.
• Complete maintenance records and CMMS updates accurately.
• Ensure compliance with permits, RAMS, SSOW, and site safety procedures.
• Conduct inspections, condition monitoring, and support root cause analysis.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and project teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
