Job summary

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is seeking an Electrician to join our MEP infrastructure team on the Sellafield site. You will undertake electrical installation and maintenance across LV/ELV systems, ensuring compliance with project specs and nuclear safety standards.

You will read drawings, perform testing, support mentorship of apprentices, and collaborate with engineers and supervisors to deliver on schedule in a highly regulated, safety-first environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
• ECS/CSCS card relevant to role.
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Experience in industrial or infrastructure electrical installations (preferably nuclear, oil & gas, utilities, or heavy industrial environments).
• Understanding of MEP systems in large infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work in a highly regulated environment with strict procedural compliance.
• IOSH preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission industrial electrical systems in accordance with drawings and site standards.
• Conduct installation works on LV and ELV systems, temporary electrics, and MEP infrastructure within nuclear-regulated environments.
• Ensure all work adheres to Sellafield site rules, nuclear safety protocols, and HSE requirements.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and other trades for coordinated delivery of MEP works.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and method statements.
• Undertake testing and inspection in line with IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Complete job records, permits and relevant documentation.
• Participate in daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety moments.
• Mentor junior electricians and apprentices.
