Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Nuclear Facilities Electrical Engineer to join the Devonport Royal Dockyard team near Plymouth, Devon. This full‑time, permanent role focuses on maintenance, repair and fault response for nuclear facilities, cranes and related systems.

You’ll work in a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment, carrying out inspections, testing, calibration and commissioning, ensuring safety, quality and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience carrying out maintenance, repair or breakdown work on heavy-duty engineering systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across teams and stakeholders.
• Producing accurate technical documentation and records in a timely manner.
• Flexible to support shift patterns, including occasional weekend work.
• Ability to work safely at height.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection, testing, calibration and commissioning on nuclear facilities equipment and systems.
• Diagnose faults and identify effective corrective solutions to maintain operation.
• Coordinate maintenance, repair and breakdown activities with safety, quality, cost and time in mind.
• Record defects and emergent work with accurate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards and site licence conditions.
