Job summary

NRL Group is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join a three-year engagement in the UK nuclear sector with hybrid work in Manchester and Liverpool and occasional travel to the US.

You will lead electrical design activities, chair Level 4 technical meetings, and ensure safety and regulatory substantiation of designs while coordinating interfaces with I&C systems. BPSS clearance and UK right to work are required; GDA/RNIP experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems design and substantiation in regulated industries.
• Experience interfacing with nuclear regulators and RNIP environments.
• Ability to lead multi-workstream electrical design activities and manage QA/ALARP assessments.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical lead for electrical design across multiple workstreams.
• Chair Level 4 technical meetings and maintain regulatory relationships.
• Lead safety, security and environmental substantiation of electrical designs.
• Oversee modifications within reactor island, turbine systems, and balance of plant environments.
• Apply a graded approach to quality assurance and ALARP assessments.
• Manage requirements capture, development and traceability across design phases.
• Address design alignment between 50Hz and 60Hz systems and develop transition strategies.
• Support delivery of electrical equipment qualification and interface with I&C systems.
• Ensure adherence to electrical codes, standards, and grid code requirements.
• Strengthen Intelligent Customer capability within the project team.
