Job summary

The Portfolio Group is seeking an NQ Solicitor to join a Manchester City Centre firm specialising in Employment Law. You will handle a varied caseload, provide practical advice to business clients, and develop your legal expertise within a supportive team.

This permanent, full-time role offers exposure to advisory work and potential progression across Employment and related areas, with ongoing training and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Newly qualified solicitor with experience in Employment Law.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and procedures.
• Excellent communication and advisory skills.
• Commercial awareness with pragmatic problem-solving.
• Good organisational skills with ability to manage priorities.
• Proactive and ambitious to develop legal expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercially focused legal advice to business clients on a range of employment law matters.
• Advise on complex employment issues including disciplinary matters, grievances, discrimination, redundancies and TUPE.
• Draft, review and negotiate Settlement Agreements and associated legal documentation.
• Respond to pre-litigation correspondence and advise clients on potential legal risks.
• Gain exposure to wider commercial and civil law matters, including contractual disputes, restrictive covenants and data protection.
• Manage your own caseload, building strong relationships with clients and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently.
• Provide practical, solution-focused advice via telephone and email.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious NQ Solicitor to gain exposure to a diverse range of employment and commercial law matters, working directly with businesses across a variety of sectors.

You’ll take ownership of your own caseload, provide practical legal advice and benefit from ongoing professional development within a supportive and experienced team.

Key Responsibilities
