Job description

Role title: NPD Technologist
Type: 18 months FTC
Salary: Competitive
Location: Huntingdon

We are seeking an ambitious and passionate NPD Technologist to join our Development team. You will work closely with the NPD Manager, Development Chef, and Process Manager to deliver NPD & EPD to retail customers. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed product documentation, competitor benchmark insights, internal Feasibility Meeting documentation to ensure concepts align with production capabilities, customer submission documentation, and Concept & Process handover documentation. You will also support the Process Development team with factory trials to ensure products match customer approvals.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Review chef concepts and contribute practical and creative input to develop optimal products within manufacturing capabilities.
2. Gather information and complete customer product submission forms, updating them based on feedback and product refinements.
3. Calculate nutritional data and Health Scores using Tesco ready reckoner, addressing any deviations from guidelines.
4. Communicate with raw material and ingredient suppliers to clarify technical details for submissions, considering order quantities and technical requirements.
5. Create Feasibility Meeting documentation based on Concept Team information, ensuring each product is reviewed prior to customer submission.
6. Support site teams during Pre-Production and Launch phases.
7. Assist in sample creation, including raw material collection.
8. Travel to customer sites for submissions and benchmarking as needed.

Qualifications and experience required:

1. Previous experience as an NPD Technologist in the food manufacturing industry.
2. Graduate-level capability preferred.
3. Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; numerate and analytical.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Ability to adapt quickly and manage multiple projects.
6. Full driving license.
