Job summary

Tonic Health is seeking a hands-on NPD and Technical Development lead in the United Kingdom to drive end-to-end product launches, build a rigorous stage-gate process and coordinate cross-functional teams across nutrition, marketing, finance and manufacturing.

You will own regulatory compliance, quality management and supplier quality, while partnering with our lead nutritionist to ensure maximum-strength formulations and effective shelf-life justification.

Responsibilities

• Run the product pipeline end to end, from concept brief and formulation through samples, stability, artwork, first production and launch.
• Build and own a stage-gate process. Keep one live critical path for every launch, working back from launch dates.
• Coordinate the founder, nutritionist, marketing, commercial, finance and manufacturers, and flag slippage early with options.
• Manage NPD budgets, MOQs, sample costs and cost-of-goods targets with finance and commercial.
• Run range extensions, reformulations, pack changes and delistings with the same discipline as new launches.
• Work with our lead nutritionist on formulation, so every product delivers our max-strength promise.
• Brief and challenge contract manufacturers on feasibility, overages, stability, shelf life and cost.
• Own raw material and finished product specifications, stability programmes and shelf-life justification.
• Hold the technical file for every SKU, Scout new ingredients, formats and suppliers that could give us an edge.
• Sign off every label and pack against UK and EU food supplement law, including the Food Supplements Regulations 2003, FIC and the GB NHC register.
• Check marketing, Amazon listings and ad copy for claims compliance with the CAP Code.
• Hold claims substantiation for every product and campaign.
• Complete retailer technical questionnaires, declarations and product specification portals.
• Build and run a proportionate Quality Management System: SOPs, specifications, document control and records.
• Review and approve batch records and Certificates of Analysis, and own finished product release.
• Run an independent testing programme so we verify and audit our own quality.
• Lead investigations into complaints, non-conformances and out-of-spec results.
• Own change control and risk assessment for any change to formula, supplier, site or pack.
• Approve and audit contract manufacturers and key raw material suppliers against GMP, BRCGS or equivalent standards.
• Put quality and technical agreements in place with every manufacturer.
• Monitor supplier performance and lead supplier reviews.
