Job summary

Educato Limited in Denton, Manchester, is seeking a compassionate Non-Verbal and Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of complex needs, including non-speaking students. The role is temporary and full-time, with a start date in November 2026.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, use communication aids such as PECS or AAC, and work with teachers and therapists to help pupils access learning and develop confidence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting children or young people with speech, language or communication needs.
• Understanding of alternative communication methods (PECS, AAC, visual systems) is beneficial.
• Patient, empathetic approach; adaptable to individual communication styles.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication difficulties.
• Support non-speaking pupils to express needs and emotions.
• Use communication aids (PECS, AAC, visual boards) where applicable.
• Encourage communication and social interaction through tailored activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, speech and language therapists and other professionals.
