Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support children with communication challenges and autism at Leeds schools. The role involves one-on-one and small group work, using PECS, BSL and Makaton to aid communication and social development.

You will collaborate with teachers and therapists to tailor strategies, monitor progress, and promote an inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with communication and autism needs is desirable.
• Passion for special education and inclusive learning environments.
• Patience, empathy and ability to adapt teaching strategies to individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to children focusing on communication and autism needs (using PECS, BSL, Makaton).
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment promoting social and emotional development.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to build a comprehensive support system.
