The Ancillary team at Pinderfields Hospital provides portering and linen services at our acute hospital in Wakefield. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Non Patient Movement Porter to join our busy Trust team.

This is a full-time position, offering 37.5 hours per week, working various shifts within a 24-hour period, to be discussed at interview.

The role involves delivering essential items between wards and departments, ensuring timely collection and delivery of documents and items, and undertaking basic portering duties. The post requires sensitivity to patient needs, courtesy, and responsiveness to service demands.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collecting refuse, clinical waste, and segregating for disposal
• Reporting incidents related to pest control and supporting cleaning tasks
• Delivering and collecting blood, specimens, pharmacy items, and supporting Major Haemorrhage incidents
• Assisting medical records porters with package delivery and collection
• Responding to radio calls to meet task requirements
• Understanding emergency procedures including fire and alert protocols
• Moving furniture, office equipment, and heavy items within the Trust
• Providing a messenger service between wards and departments
• Maintaining cleanliness of common areas
• Distributing non-stock items to wards/departments with signature confirmation
• Participating in out-of-hours gritting when necessary
• Supporting departmental operations and workload prioritization
