Job description

Livewell community substance use services are seeking to recruit a Non-medical prescriber to joinour team of prescribers working within Livewell southwest in partnership withHarbour Drug and Alcohol services. This is an exciting opportunity to develop knowledge and skills of working in a specialist fieldoffering prescribing for clients who use drugs and alcohol. There has been considerable investment in substance use services enabling the service to develop our offer, including psychological and pharmacological treatments, including Buvidal.

Working within a team of specialist doctors, non-medicalprescribers, community pharmacists and Harbour staff, the role will involve assessments of prescribingneeds within the field of drug and alcohol work. It will also include beingable to assess and prescribe where appropriate, opiate substitute treatments(OST) interventions but also benzodiazepine reductions and opiatedetoxifications and relapse prevention medications in line with medications inRecovery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will prescribe for clients open to Harbour with a keyworker, working closely with Harbour to achieve best treatment outcomes and to maintain safe prescribing and reduce substance misuse related harm. The post will require service development and leadership skills.

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.

Job responsibilities

TheNon-Medical prescriber will form part of the prescribing team at Harbour as partof Livewell services. Their role will be to manage andcoordinate a Prescribing caseload within the complex lives system. To beresponsible for assessing, diagnosing, implementing and planning a prescribingintervention, ensuring both psychical, mental health, social needs are assessedalongside psycho-social intervention and, to provide expert advice and clinicalsupport whilst promoting the effective and efficient delivery of high-qualityservice within the local community

The role will involve supporting the service manager in the running ofservice. To manage and prioritise a defined caseload anddelegate where appropriate.In the absence of the Clinical lead/ Head of service,has a responsibility to Co-ordinate the wider team.To participate in policy development throughprofessional forums and implement in practice ensuring the clinical practicereflects national and local drivers.
