Job summary

BCL Legal is assisting a highly regarded international law firm in Birmingham to hire a construction lawyer with 1-6 PQE in non-contentious matters. The role offers a hybrid working pattern and exposure to high-value projects across property, infrastructure, energy and transport, with strong progression opportunities.

You'll advise developers, contractors and funders, draft and negotiate contracts (JCT/NEC), and collaborate with colleagues across property, finance and corporate teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 1-6 years' PQE focused on non-contentious construction law, ideally gained at a strong commercial regional or City practice.
• Solid experience advising on development projects and a good understanding of project structures.
• Practical knowledge of JCT, NEC, and other standard construction contracts.
• Excellent commercial awareness combined with technical expertise.
• A proactive and client-focused approach with strong communication and organisational skills.
• A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of high-value, non-contentious construction projects across sectors including property, infrastructure, energy, and transport.
• Work closely with developers, contractors, funders and consultants, amongst other clients on transactional matters.
• Engage with multidisciplinary teams including property, finance, and corporate lawyers to deliver seamless client solutions.
• Draft, negotiate, and review construction contracts (including JCT and NEC forms) and related documentation.
• Support more junior team members and contribute to business development initiatives.
