Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Nodes Quality Technician at its Desford facility to maintain and improve machine quality. You will coordinate with operations, conduct defect audits, and drive corrective actions to meet customer and dealer expectations.

You will work across shifts as needed and build strong links with US Node facilities, contributing to continuous improvement and lean Six Sigma initiatives.

The Opportunity:

As a Nodes Quality Technician within the Quality Department, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of machines leaving the Desford facility. Your work ensures that products meet customer and dealer expectations through effective coordination, analysis, and communication.

What you will do:

• Work closely with operations and team leaders to build strong working relationships.
• Carry out audits on machine defects to find root causes and support fixes.
• Keep regular contact with US Node facilities through daily and weekly meetings.
• Use defect data to identify and follow up on Interim and Permanent Corrective Actions (ICA/PCA).
• Complete tasks on time and in line with company processes.
• Be flexible and willing to work across shifts when needed.

What You Can Demonstrate:

• Quality Knowledge Operations: Work closely with operations and team leaders to build strong working relationships.
• Process Improvement & Problem Solving: Uses Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving tools to improve how things are done. Identifies root causes and supports corrective actions to reduce defects.
• Communication & Collaboration: Shares information clearly with different teams. Leads meetings when needed and presents updates confidently.

What You May Have:

• Skilled at a quality gate or with machine builds across lines.
• Familiar with tools like EPIX, Team Centre, PRWB, or SWES.
