Job summary

Abbots Care is seeking reliable and confident carers to support a client with a C3 spinal cord injury at home in Buntingford. You will provide personal, catheter and bowel care, ensuring comfort, dignity and independence.

Training is delivered in-house by our nurse assessor and you will work 8pm–8am with alternate weekends. The role requires care sector experience and a calm, empathetic, non-judgemental approach, with willingness to work alongside large dogs and CCTV in the home.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within the care sector is essential.
• Ideal candidate should be experienced in complex care or spinal injuries (training provided).
• Calm, good sense of humour, emotionally mature and non‑judgemental.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
• Comfortable working around two large friendly dogs.
• Happy to work with CCTV in operation in the carers’ room and outside the property.

Responsibilities

We are seeking reliable and confident individuals to support our client, a 47‑year‑old man with a C3 complete spinal cord injury (tetraplegia) following a motorcross accident almost 3 years ago.

Our client lives in Buntingford, a town in the east of Hertfordshire with his wife and 2 Great Dane’s Thor & Mav.

Experience of working within the care sector is essential for this role, with real dedication to enabling a client living with severely limited mobility to be live as independently as possible.

Full training for this role will be provided by our in-house community nurse assessor, who works closely with our clients with complex care needs.

Our client requires regular personal care, catheter care and bowel care using a suppository

The shifts are 8pm-8am inclusive of alternate weekends
