Job summary

Medivet Watford 24 is a busy, 24-hour veterinary hospital providing emergency, critical care, and inpatient services. We seek a compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the night team, focusing on emergency and critical care nursing in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll work 7 nights on, 21 nights off, assisting with overnight admissions, triage, and patient management while supporting the veterinary team and clients with the highest standards of care.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS registered).
• Previous experience in emergency, referral, or hospital practice is desirable but not essential.
• Confident in inpatient care, anaesthesia, and emergency nursing.
• Calm, organised, and able to work independently overnight.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about delivering exceptional patient and client care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of inpatient nursing care to medical, surgical, and critical care patients.
• Monitor and manage hospitalised patients throughout the night, recognising and responding to changes in patient condition.
• Assist veterinary surgeons with emergency consultations, diagnostics, and procedures.
• Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and patient handovers.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene, infection control, and patient welfare.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, providing compassionate support during emergency situations.
• Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
