Job summary

Culina Group Limited is seeking an Assistant Transport Manager to oversee 24/7 transport operations and lead the transport team. The role requires managing costs, ensuring fleet availability, and maintaining service levels across customers.

You will deputise for the Transport Manager when needed and drive improvements across the department. Working hours are 4 on 4 off nights, 18:00–06:00, with a salary up to £40,000 per annum depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Supervisory/management experience in FMCG environment.
• Strong leadership to motivate the team and set clear objectives.
• Extensive knowledge of tachograph rules and driving regulations.
• Excellent planning and numeracy abilities.
• Able to solve problems under pressure.
• Effective verbal and written communication at all levels.
• Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage Depot Transport staff to execute traffic plans and deliver products to customers within service levels.
• Monitor and control transport costs in line with budget/forecasts.
• Ensure fleet is on the road and declared for planning resource.
• Mentor and develop staff through training and development plans.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
• Coordinate with 3rd party hauliers for defect management and invoicing.
• Oversee fleet maintenance costs, MOTs, and service intervals.
• Support service improvements with customers and other areas of the business.
