Single Homeless Project - Night Support Assistant

Location: London

Position: Night Support Assistant (Part-time, Permanent)

Hours: 21 hours, including some evenings and weekends

We support single Londoners by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, and advocating for change. Annually, we make a difference in over 12,000 lives across all 32 boroughs.

Role Overview:

As a Night Support Assistant at our Wandsworth accommodation, you will create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for clients rebuilding their lives. You will be the first point of contact during the night, managing access, responding to emergencies, conducting safety checks, and reporting concerns. Whether working alone or with nearby sites via our buddy system, you will be part of a dedicated team making a real difference every night.

This role involves managing emergency placements and supporting clients at critical moments. You will lead overnight client interactions, ensuring smooth task execution, with support from SHP’s out-of-hours management team, even when working solo.

Skills and Experience:

• Ability to develop positive relationships, demonstrating flexibility and resilience, with negotiation and influencing skills.
• Understanding and application of equal opportunities principles, engaging positively with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Knowledge of quality, customer-focused service principles, and a commitment to empowering clients.
• Literacy, numeracy, and IT skills sufficient for tasks like budgeting, benefit calculations, and understanding rent arrears.
