Job summary

Winner Recruitment in Coventry is recruiting experienced Yard Shunters for night shifts only. You will safely move trailers and vehicles around the depot, ensuring smooth operations through the night. The role requires a valid HGV Class 1 licence, prior yard shunter experience, and strong safety awareness.

You’ll work independently during night hours and coordinate with transport and warehouse teams. Pay starts at £20 per hour, with holiday pay included (£22.41).

Qualifications

• Previous Yard Shunter experience is essential.
• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Good understanding of trailer movements and yard operations.
• Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers.
• Good reversing and manoeuvring skills.
• Strong awareness of vehicle and pedestrian safety.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• Good communication skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Safely shunt HGV trailers and vehicles around the yard.
• Move trailers between loading bays, parking areas and locations.
• Couple and uncouple trailers safely when required.
• Carry out vehicle and trailer checks before moving.
• Follow site traffic management procedures and yard instructions.
• Ensure vehicles are correctly positioned and ready for loading/unloading.
• Communicate effectively with the transport and warehouse teams.
• Maintain high standards of safety at all times.
• Report any vehicle defects, damage or safety concerns immediately.
• Keep the yard organised and operate efficiently during the night shift.
